JayJuan Shakur Jones is native of Chicago, Illinois and currently, a student at Howard University, majoring in Communications with a concentration in Journalism & Political Science. He is a communicator and storyteller who has one overwhelming desire—he wants to change the world. He feels the only way that this can be done is by and through strategic evangelistic community building. He has said; “community never excludes diversity, it celebrates it and one can never know their true capacity without the sustained context of community”. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of The Urban Liberator and the CEO of the Shakur Productions LLC a media and entertainment production company and the Shakur Foundation (Refuge Campus Ministries)—a nonprofit dedicated to the advancement of the message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified through the seven spheres of societal influence.

To date, Jay-Juan (known as Jay Shakur) has served in many distinct ways, both spiritually and secularly. He has volunteered to serve veterans through the National Honors Society (NHS), he led a youth ministry at his family’s church for 3 years. Also, he has written, directed and produced two full-length stage plays (Suddenly in Love & Mixed Company) productions which examined society’s views on the issues of interracial relationship, socio-economic disparities and love. In July of 2018 he self-published his first book; RAINMAKERS—Equipping A Generation to Live Under an Open Heaven. He currently hosts a podcast called; CHANGING THE NARRATIVE with Jay Shakur.
